While we are distracted by AI apocalypse hype, it’s been nearly three years since litigation started against UnitedHealth Group regarding claims denials (November 14, 2023), and two years since the cold-blooded murder of subsidiary CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024.
Here are some of the allegations:
Managers instructed clinical staff to keep patient stay lengths within 1% of what nH Predict estimated. Employees who deviated were allegedly disciplined or terminated.
UnitedHealth’s nH Predict had a 90% Error rate — meaning 9 in 10 denials were reversed after appeal.
Despite the massive error rate, only about 0.2% of policyholders ever filed an appeal.
