The Corporate Leviathan Was Hated.

Then They Bought a New Image.

Millions in advertising dollars were used throughout the 20th century to sell us on a system that would eventually enslave us. Most people—including myself at one point—have no idea this happened.

To understand how we got “here”- virtually powerless in land with laws that are supposed to protect us, we have to be asking the right questions and be willing to critically evaluate “sacred cows.”

By the early 20th century, the Corporate Leviathan, once bound and chained—the beast of old—was on a rampage. Citizens were outraged. They wanted accountability, justice and a revision of the laws that had unleashed this monster. Small mom and pop businesses were taking it on the chin.

Here’s what happened next. The Age of Reform was cued up—a mostly theatrical presentation of beating back the monster while doing nothing to prevent its ascendance.

And the next stage? Massive corporate public relations—millions in ad spend—to rehab the malevolent giant’s image. It was into this milieu that most of us were born; glorious capitalism, the provider of our super-abundance and the “free market” whose values we were regularly taught to praise. In reality, the “free market” was long gone in any prized industry that the holders of wealth wished to corner.

Millions were spent to transform the image of the hated “Trusts.”

We were told the free market is the foundation of America.

However, in reality, Corporate Capitalism eventually destroys that very foundation.

And the massive aggregation of wealth? Yup, you guessed it. The political system was never going to stay independent from that kind of concentrated power.

It’s taken about 125 years to run the table on—not only the commercial industries—but academia and medicine as well.

How did this artificial being become master of its creator?

Offended by any attack whatsoever on “capitalism?”

You need this material the most. We can and must take off the rose colored glasses produced by billions of dollars spent on scientifically engineering public opinion facilitating our uncritical LOVE of “corporate capitalism,” throughout the 20th century (Remember corporate capitalism is very different from a free market).

And of course, being the beneficiaries of a historic rise in standard of living didn’t hurt. But where are we really? The entire country is in deep debt and individual debt is high across the board. The wealth gap grows daily.

Truly the branch upon which we have been sitting is being sawn off.

If you are antagonized by this post, please look deeper.

This video is derived from book two of the One Idea Series, Masters of Illusion which includes the mostly forgotten story of the rise of the Corporate Leviathan—and lays out how anger and hatred of the “Trusts” was transformed into tolerance, acceptance and eventually pride.

When it was all said and done—the hated monsters had become benevolent corporate giants, and it wasn’t an organic development.

Watch the video, then pick up the book for more details. It's a crucial part of history that few in the alternative media space dare to expose—and essential to understand if you're going to see clearly through the Economic Lens, one of five lenses that strip away the fog of 21st-century deception.
